Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease

Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is a genetic disorder that leads to the formation of small fluid-filled cysts in the kidneys. While children with ADPKD are born with this condition, it typically does not result in significant issues until the cysts become large enough to impact kidney function. This usually happens when individuals reach their 30s or 40s. However, in some cases, children or older adults may experience noticeable symptoms due to ADPKD.
