About Mr Gidon Ellis
Mr Gidon Ellis is a leading consultant urological surgeon in London specialising in general urology, kidney stones, and the management of urinary symptoms and prostate problems in men. He is skilled in numerous aspects of urology, including the assessment of lower urinary tract symptoms in men, treatment of benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) with HoLEP and TURP and the management of kidney stones with extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL) and ureteroscopy and laser. He regularly assesses patients with haematuria (blood in urine), which can be a sign of bladder cancer or urothelial cancers of the upper urinary tracts; conditions which he is an expert in managing also. He treats patients with scrotal swelling, difficulty with the foreskin, urinary tract infections, and elevated PSA blood test, as well as other abnormal investigations. Mr Ellis offers a patient-centred holistic practice with the needs of his patients at the centre of his decision making and treatment selection. The satisfaction of his patients is paramount and is reflected in the excellent feedback he consistently receives from those he treats. His surgical practice is honed towards minimally invasive endoscopic treatments, ensuring that his patients can have the best available treatments and then return to their normal lives as quickly as possible. In 2012 Mr Ellis ranked number one in the UK national selection process and went on to complete his higher urological training in North London, which included a year at the renowned Institute of Urology at University College London Hospitals where he undertook further subspecialist training in endourology and kidney stones. At the end of his training he was awarded The Urology Foundation Endourology Travelling Fellowship Award. He went on to complete a fellowship position in HoLEP at Luton & Dunstable Hospital where he gained extensive experience in minimally-invasive low power HoLEP. He is a core member of the bladder cancer and kidney stone multi-disciplinary teams (MDT) at Royal Free London NHS Trust, where he holds an NHS consultant post, and provides endourology expertise to the renal cancer MDT also. He runs the male lower urinary tract clinic at Royal Free London. Private patients can access his highly professional and personalised patient care at The Royal Free Hospital Private Patients Unit, The Platinum Medical Centre and Wellington Hospital in Central London, and Hadley Wood Hospital in North London.
