About Dr Imtiaz Ahmed

DrImtiazAhmed is a highly accomplished consultantneurologist based in Essex. He possesses comprehensive expertise of a wide spectrum of neurological conditions, with a primary focus on headache, epilepsy, Parkinson'sdisease, multiplesclerosis, neurodegenerativedisorders, and dementia. Dr Ahmed qualified in medicine in India in 1995 before going to conduct clinical research focusing on stroke in young people, which culminated in the award of an MD in 2001. He achieved membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2003 and subsequently specialised in neurology, becoming a member of the Royal College’s dedicated neurology section in 2011. He undertook his specialist training at various esteemed centres, including the National Hospital of Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, and also completed a fellowship in interventionalneuroradiology in Zurich, Switzerland. He was awarded an additional MD from Imperial College London in 2012, and that same year was also appointed as a fellow of the EuropeanAcademyofNeurology. In 2021, Dr Ahmed achieved fellowship of the RoyalCollegeofPhysicians (FRCP). He has been appointed as a consultant neurologist for a number of years, with his current NHS base being Colchester University NHS Foundation Trust. He sees private patients at SpireHartswoodHospital, Springfield Hospital, RamsayOaksHospital and NuffieldHealthBrentwoodHospital. Dr Ahmed is actively involved in education and regularly teaches medical students and junior doctors at his NHS base in Colchester. He is a member of a number of esteemed medical societies, including the American Academy of Neurology, the European Neurology Society, and the Medical and Dental Defence Union of Scotland.
