About Mr Marco Bolgeri
Mr Marco Bolgeri is a consultant urological surgeon practising with HCA UK in London. He specialises in the treatment of kidney and bladder stones, haematuria, hydronephrosis, and kidney conditions, including cysts, disease, and retention. Mr Bolgeri qualified from the University of Udine in 2005 and undertook urological training in the UK with the London South Thames Programme, where he developed a specialist interest in stone diseases and complex endourology. His skills were further developed at esteemed institutions such as St George’s University Hospital and University College London Hospital, during a year-long post-CCT Fellowship where he gained expertise performing percutaneous stone treatments and endoscopic combined intrarenal surgery. He is working on establishing a minimally invasive PCNL service at St George’s University Hospital. He was made a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2013 and of the European Board of Urology in 2014. In addition to his clinical duties, Mr Bolgeri partakes in research regarding urinary stone disease. He is involved in patient recruitment for the National Institute for Health and Care Research for studies like SUSPEND and TISU. He has completed a research project on novel biomarkers of renal injury in patients with ureteric stones, which was awarded several times, including the Geoffrey Chisholm gold medal and the Dean’s Postgraduate Master’s Project 1st prize at University College London, during his Master's degree in urology. Currently, he is setting up research trials to investigate stone-related sepsis and pre-procedural antibiotic prophylaxis.
