About Dr Rahul Mogal

Dr Rahul Mogal is a consultant in respiratory and general medicine with a specialised interest in lung cancer and interventional pulmonology. He received his respiratory training in London, gaining experience at the Royal London and London Chest Hospitals. Dr Mogal furthered his expertise by completing a Clinical Fellowship in Interventional Bronchoscopy at Thoraxklinik in Heidelberg, Germany. He is skilled in advanced procedures such as endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), endobronchial stenting, and the use of endobronchial valves. His other specialist areas include pleural disease, thoracic ultrasound, medical thoracoscopy, and the management of indwelling pleural catheters. Dr Mogal manages a wide range of respiratory conditions, including asthma, bronchiectasis, COPD, lung cancer, and sleep apnea, among others. Dr Mogal practices at Watford General Hospital, where he handles in-patient and out-patient care and performs a wide range of interventional procedures. He also serves as Honorary Consultant at University College London Hospital (UCLH). Dr. Mogal has served as the Clinical Lead for the Department of Respiratory Medicine at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust and was lead for the Lung Cancer from 2017 to 2022. He holds leadership roles in lung cancer and COPD care, including as Trust Lead for Lung Cancer Screening, Advanced COPD, Interventional Pulmonology and Chair of the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Lung Network Cancer. His contributions to healthcare have earned him NHS Clinical Excellence Awards, and he was part of the award-winning team for the prestigious “BMJ Respiratory Team of the Year” award for comprehensive Covid-19 care, and the "Outstanding Innovation and Development" award at the Star of Herts Staff Awards. He works closely with a multidisciplinary team comprising physicians, thoracic surgeons, oncologists, specialist nurses, radiologists, physiotherapists, physiologists, and pathologists to deliver comprehensive, patient-centred care and to achieve the best possible clinical outcomes. Dr Mogal maintains a strong commitment to medical education and training. He acts as an Educational Supervisor for Respiratory trainees and senior fellows at Watford General Hospital. He is co-director of the "Advanced Course in EBUS, Mediastinal EUS, and Rapid On-Site Evaluation" and the "Introduction to Principles of Flexible Bronchoscopy" course. He regularly presents at national and international conferences. Highly regarded by his patients, Dr Mogal is known for his patient-centred approach, ensuring that patient concerns are fully understood and that management plans are tailored to individual needs and preferences.
