About Dr Prasanna Sankaran

Dr Prasanna Sankaran is a experienced consultant respiratory physician based in Norwich, practising at Spire Norwich Hospital. His areas of expertise include sleep apnoea, asthma, COPD, chronic cough and breathlessness, as well as ventilatory problems linked to neuromuscular conditions such as motor neurone disease. He has particular experience in the use of CPAP therapy and home ventilation, offering tailored care for patients with complex respiratory needs. Dr Sankaran is the clinical lead for Sleep Medicine and Home Ventilation at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. He completed specialist training in the East of England, including advanced sleep disorders and home ventilation at Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, and completed postgraduate doctoral research degree MD from the University of East Anglia for research into assessments of airway inflammation. Committed to medical education, he leads Respiratory Medicine at Norwich Medical School, serves as a Training Programme Director for Internal Medicine in the East of England, and is an examiner for the MRCP PACES clinical exam.
