Dr Arnd Dominik Schlosshan is a leading consultant cardiologist with a specialist focus on cardiac imaging and heart valve disease. He practises at Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital, and currently serves as the clinical lead for one of the UK’s largest echocardiography departments and valve clinics. Based at the Leeds General Infirmary, he plays an integral role within the specialist valve team, offering advanced cardiac imaging for patients with complex heart valve conditions and supporting innovative procedures such as transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). He is actively involved in clinical research, particularly in trials assessing emerging technologies for heart valve treatment. Originally from Germany, Dr Schlosshan completed his undergraduate medical education there before relocating to the UK in 1997. He undertook his specialist cardiology training across West Yorkshire, earning a doctorate in medicine (MD) from the University of Leeds. He went on to gain further expertise in echocardiography and cardiac CT during a year-long fellowship in Sydney, Australia. Dr Schlosshan was appointed as a consultant cardiologist in Leeds in 2010. Clinically, Dr Schlosshan is particularly interested in the assessment and early diagnosis of a range of cardiac conditions including chest pain, heart murmurs, bicuspid aortic valve disease, breathlessness, and hypertension. He is especially experienced in the management of heart valve disease, guiding patients through the diagnostic process, treatment planning, and determining optimal timing for surgical intervention. Dr Schlosshan is deeply committed to patient-centred care, taking the time to listen to each patient’s concerns and explain all aspects of their condition and treatment options. He strongly believes in empowering patients through open communication and shared decision-making. At Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital, Dr Schlosshan provides a full range of cardiology investigations and treatments, including comprehensive cardiovascular risk assessments, blood tests, electrocardiograms (ECGs), echocardiograms, event monitors, and transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE).
