About Dr George Coltart

Dr George Coltart is a highly skilled consultant dermatologist at the Montrose clinic in London and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. He is an expert in the diagnosis and management of skin cancer and adult medical dermatology, treating a wide range of conditions including eczema, psoriasis, acne, urticaria, autoimmune and autoinflammatory skin disorders. He is also proficient in advanced surgical techniques for the treatment of skin cancers and benign skin lesions. Dr Coltart completed his medical training at the University of Oxford, where he also obtained a bachelor’s degree in physiological sciences. Awarded an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship, he undertook specialist dermatology training in Southampton. He is currently completing a PhD funded by a prestigious Medical Research Council Clinical Research Training Fellowship, focusing on the development of skin cancer and the immune responses within tumours. As part of this work, he created an award-winning tumour culture system that models how tumours respond to different immunotherapy drugs. His research portfolio spans a broad range of dermatological topics, including techniques to reduce anxiety during skin surgery, cancer risk linked to narrow-band UVB phototherapy, treatment of pre-cancerous lesions, and AI modelling of inflammatory skin conditions. His findings have been widely published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at both national and international conferences. In addition to his clinical and research expertise, Dr Coltart holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from the Royal College of Physicians and University College London. He plays an active role in teaching and mentoring medical students, trainee doctors, and nurses, ensuring the next generation of dermatology professionals benefit from his knowledge and experience.
