About Dr Sukhjinder Nijjer
Dr Sukhjinder Nijjer is a leading consultant cardiologist at the One Heart Clinic in London, who specialises in heart disease, hypertension, heart palpitations, angina, shortness of breath and lipid disorders. He is a world-renowed expert in Cardiology and published extensively in the field. Dr Nijjer is the President of Cardiology at the Royal Society of Medicine. He is also the Communications lead of British Cardiovascular Intervention Society. Dr Nijjer combines his knowledge and expertise to provide individualised care to patients for their specific problems. Dr Nijjer is a Consultant Cardiologist specialising in Cardiovascular Intervention and works at two major London NHS Trusts - Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Chelsea & Westminster NHS Foundation Trust. He treats all aspects of Cardiac problems and runs both general and specialist clinics. He treats heart attack patients as part of the primary angioplasty service. Dr Nijjer graduated from the University of Bristol with his honours in medicine in 2004. He was awarded a first-class honours degree in pharmacology, which was supported by the prestigious Wolfson Award from the Royal College of Physicians. Dr Nijjer undertook his specialist training at the Hammersmith, Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals. Dr Nijjer is committed to improving the treatment of patients through the development and application of new medical technologies. His PhD and ongoing research program has involved the development of new techniques to measure blood flow in coronary arteries with blockages. His PhD was awarded by Imperial College London and was supported by the prestigious Medical Research Council. While undertaking his PhD, he worked within a highly-renowned team to pioneer the use of iFR and iFR-pullback to better treat coronary blockages. iFR and iFR-Scout are now used in thousands of patients around the world and iFR has recently been called the new gold standard by the New England Journal of Medicine. The technology has now been tested in two major randomised controlled studies - some of the biggest in the field and is part of ongoing new major trials.
