About Professor Riyaz Patel

ProfessorRiyazPatel is a highly respected consultantcardiologist based in London. He is widely renowned for his expertise in family history of heart deseases, preventivecardiology and cardiacscreening and also specialises in cholesterolmanagement, lipid disorders and heart check up. Professor Patel qualified in medicine with distinction from King’sCollegeLondon in 2001, having previously been awarded a first class honours degree in psychology from UniversityCollegeLondon. After undergoing further clinical training in London and attaining membership of the Royal College of Physicians, he began a specialist cardiology researchfellowship based at EmoryUniversity, Atlanta, USA. After returning to the UK, he completed his medicaldoctorate at CardiffUniversity in 2012 and was appointed as a consultant cardiologist at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust the following year. He is widely renowned for his work in the field, regularly publishing highprofileresearcharticles which appear in esteemed peer-reviewed academic journals. He is also frequently invited as a guest speaker at keyinternationalconferences, including those of the European Society of Cardiology. Professor Patel also holds several key strategic leadership roles in cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention and chairs the EastLondonCVDPreventionGroup. He additionally acts as a clinicaladvisor for the NationalInstituteofClinicalExcellence (NICE).
