Jellyfish and other sea creature stings

The majority of stings from sea creatures in the UK are not severe and can be managed with basic first aid. However, there are occasions when hospital treatment may be necessary. If you experience a sting from a sea creature like a jellyfish, seek local medical advice promptly. You can approach a lifeguard or someone trained in first aid for assistance. Rinse the affected area with seawater (avoid using fresh water) and carefully remove any spines from the skin using tweezers or the edge of a bank card.
