About Dr Rashmi Jain
Dr Rashmi Jain is a consultant Immunologist and allergist in Oxford, who specialises in allergy (food allergies, allergic rhinitis), alongside immunotherapy, anaphylaxis, allergic urticaria, allergy testing and angioedema. She privately practises at Nuffield Health Oxford, The Manor Hospital, and Churchill Hospital, while her NHS base is the John Radcliffe and Churchill Hospitals as part of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Dr Jain graduated in medicine from Panjab University, India in 1986, did MD in Internal Medicine in 1991, after practicing Internal Medicine in India and Oman, achieving MRCP in 2003, she moved to UK in 2004 and went on to complete specialist training in Immunology in Plymouth, achieving FRCPath in Immunology in 2011. She has been a consultant immunologist, working in Oxford since 2012. Her approach combines detailed history-taking, skin prick testing and blood tests to accurately diagnose allergic and immunologic conditions. She offers evidence-based guidance on how to manage and treat symptoms, with particular focus on individualised patient care. She is actively involved in the management of complex allergic conditions including oral allergy syndrome, food allergy, venom allergy, chronic spontaneous urticaria and C1 esterase inhibitor deficiency. She also has expertise in the diagnosis of aeroallergen allergies caused by pollen, house dust mites, moulds and animal dander. In her immunology practice, she manages patients with recurrent infections, evaluating them for immune deficiency and providing treatment advice, including for hereditary and acquired angioedema. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Jain is an experienced medical educator having previously taught on MSc Immunology in Oxford University, and Laboratory Medicine course to 4th year Medical Students in Oxford University. She teaches junior doctors and GPs in allergy and immunology. She also conducts GP allergy study days and lectures on allergy topics as part of GP training programmes when requested. She is an examiner for FRCPath Immunology. Dr Jain is involved in clinical research and has participated in several clinical trials, including OPUS trial for new treatment in hereditary angioedema, self-administration of Icatibant in hereditary angioedema, Icatibant outcome survey, APEX-N study for Berotralstat in hereditary angioedema, Pharvaris study on Deucrictibant in hereditary angioedema. Her academic work included research on the immune characterisation of C1q in autoimmune nephritis, the impact of stressors in chronic urticaria, and audit on the treatment of severe allergic rhinitis. She is a member of the Association of Clinical Pathologists, the British Society for Allergy & Clinical Immunology, the European Society for Immunodeficiencies and the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. She is an Appraiser for Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation trust.
