About Mr John Harrison
Mr John Harrison is a leading consultant orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in Hand and Wrist Surgery, focusing on peripheral nerve decompression, trigger finger release, hand swellings, Dupuytren's contracture, small joint arthritis, scaphoid non-union surgery, sports injuries, wrist arthroscopy, and ligament reconstructive surgery. He has extensive experience of WALANT technique for hand surgery. He has treated athletes from professional football, rugby union, British Superbikes, and Team GB Rowing including World and Olympic Champions, while also covering general trauma when on-call. Mr Harrison consults privately at Nuffield Health Newcastle upon Tyne Hospital. He completed his higher surgical training in Manchester, followed by a Fellowship at Wrightington Hospital, specialising in hand and wrist surgery. In addition, he holds an MSc in orthopaedic engineering from Cardiff University. His research has been published nationally and internationally, with a particular focus on local anaesthetic hand surgery and scaphoid non-union. His work has also contributed to the development of replacement joints for the elbow and wrist.
