Hepatitis C
Hepatitis C is a virus that targets the liver. If not treated, it can lead to severe and sometimes life-threatening liver damage over time. However, with current treatments available, it is often possible to cure the infection, allowing most individuals to enjoy a normal life expectancy. In 2019, it was estimated that approximately 118,000 people in the UK were living with chronic hepatitis C. Infection can occur through contact with the blood of someone who is infected.
