About Professor Wasim Hanif
Professor Wasim Hanif is a leading endocrinologist in Birmingham, who specialises in type 2 diabetes, hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, alongside thyroid problems, erectile dysfunction, obesity, diabetic nephropathy and cardiovascular medicine in diabetes. He privately practises at The Harborne Hospital - part of HCA Healthcare, while his NHS base is University Hospital Birmingham, where he is Professor of Diabetes and Endocrinology, Consultant physician, and Clinical Director of Diabetes services. Professor Hanif is highly qualified with an MB BS from Osmania University, an MD, and an MRCP (Royal College of Physicians). He is a highly-regarded researcher, and his work on topics including diabetes prevention, management of diabetes in Ramadan, and ethnicity and tackling health inequalities, is widely published in various peer-reviewed journals.
