He privately practises at Thornbury Hospital and Nuffield Health Derby Hospital, while his NHS base is Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, where he is developing the complex benign gynaecology and endometriosis service. He performs over 400 endometriosis cases each year, managing all stages of the disease. Professor Singh trained in the North-West of England, where he chaired the trainees’ committee and completed advanced training in benign abdominal, vaginal and minimally invasive surgery. He completed an MD focused on endometrial cancer and endometriosis, and later became a professor of obstetrics and gynaecology at Bond University in Australia. During his time there, he became one of the first robotic surgeons in the country, using this approach for hysterectomy and complex endometriosis procedures. He also worked with the Australian Border Force, reviewing services and retrieving refugees from Nauru. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He has also published widely, including in high-impact journals such as Nature, with research focused on rapid diagnostics using sensor technology and cloud-based software. He is proficient in software programming and designs bespoke algorithms for medical applications. Professor Singh is a member of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and has delivered medical and midwifery training in Somalia and Malaysia. His 2008 textbook was a top seller for the RCOG. As director of Biocel Biological, he is currently leading development of a novel urine-based screening test for ovarian cancer and endometriosis, which has demonstrated high sensitivity and specificity and is under evaluation in the UK and internationally.
