About Mr Alagappan Sivaraman

Mr Alagappan Sivaraman is a consultant orthopaedic spinal surgeon in Essex. He is an expert in managing cervical spine pain, lumbar discectomy and spinal stenosis, alongside kyphoplasty, scoliosis and spinal fusion. He privately practises at Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital. Mr Sivaraman provides both spinal surgery and non-operative treatments, including spinal injection therapies and radiofrequency injections for neck and back pain. He treats a wide range of spinal conditions, including degenerative diseases of the cervical and lumbar spine, spinal deformities, inflammatory spinal disorders such as rheumatoid spine, spinal infections and tumours including spinal tuberculosis. Furthermore, he offers minimally invasive (keyhole) spinal procedures, including interspinous decompression for lumbar spinal stenosis, cervical disc arthroplasty (neck disc replacement) and minimally invasive spinal fusion techniques. He completed his higher surgical training in trauma and orthopaedics at Barts and The Royal London Hospitals and held a consultant post there from 2006 to 2011. Mr Sivaraman is fellowship trained in spinal surgery, having completed placements in Germany, the United States and India. His UK spinal training was carried out at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, where he worked with both orthopaedic and neurosurgical teams. In addition to his clinical work, Mr Sivaraman is the author of a spinal chapter in a medical textbook and has presented and published research in spinal surgery at international conferences. He is a member of several professional bodies including the British Association of Spinal Surgeons (BASS), the North American Spine Society (NASS), the Indian Association of Spinal Surgeons (IASS) and the Independent Doctors Federation.
