About Mr Ahmed Talaat
Mr Ahmed Talaat is a leading consultant gynaecologist and sub-specialist gynaecological oncologist based in Devon. He sees private patients at Nuffield Health Plymouth Hospital and Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital. Mr Talaat specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of gynaecological cancers, with particular expertise in ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, colposcopy and fibroids, as well as the management of ovarian cysts and pelvic pain. He is widely recognised for providing thorough, patient-centred care for women with both complex oncological conditions and general gynaecological concerns. Mr Talaat completed his medical degree abroad before continuing his postgraduate development with further qualifications including an MSc, MD and FRCOG. After moving to the UK, he undertook extensive specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology across several leading centres, including hospitals in London, Newcastle, Portsmouth and Southampton. During this time, he trained at renowned institutions such as St Bartholomew’s Hospital and the Royal London Hospital. In 2011, he achieved dual GMC-accredited Certificates of Completion of Training (CCT) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Gynaecological Oncology, alongside completing accredited fellowship training in gynaecological oncology. He was appointed research fellow in the Ovarian Cancer Research Unit in 1996, where he contributed to important research on the early detection and screening of gynaecological cancers, including participation in the UKCTOCS ovarian cancer screening trial. Since 2012, he has served as consultant gynaecologist and gynaecological cancer surgeon at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, where he is the Trust Lead for Gynaecological Cancer and plays a key role in shaping best practice and improving outcomes for women. He is also an active member of several professional organisations, including the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, the British Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, the International Gynaecological Cancer Society and the British Gynaecological Cancer Society.
