About Mr Yatin Thakur

Mr Yatin Thakur is a consultant gynaecologist at Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital, specialising in issues and procedures such as menstrual problems, gynaecological ultrasounds, laparoscopic surgeries including hysterectomy, urogynaecology including urinary incontinence and vaginal prolapse. Mr Thakur qualified from Bombay University in 1989, and completed his MD in 1993 at King Edward Memorial Hospital in Mumbai. He came to the UK and underwent specialist gynaecological training in the London Deanery before being appointed as consultant at Basildon University Hospital in 2006. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2011. He has performed over 1500 hysterectomies using various approaches. In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Thakur has an active role in medical education. He is a mentor for junior doctors and has organised various national and international training workshops, is a trainer for gynaecological ultrasound at King’s College Hospital in London, and is an examiner for the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Mr Thakur has taken part in a national health study that compared the results of endometrial ablation against laparoscopic subtotal hysterectomy to treat menorrhagia, has contributed to the Journal for Minimally Invasive Gynaecology, and took part in the 44th AAGL Global Congress on Minimally Invasive Gynaecology in 2015.
