About Mr Wiqqas Jamil

Mr Wiqqas Jamil is an esteemed Manchester-based consultant orthopaedic surgeon, specialising in all aspects of knee surgery and primary hip replacement. In his clinical practice, Mr Jamil sees patients for a broad spectrum of knee problems, ranging from sports-related traumaand injuries to arthritis of the knee. His specialist interests include cruciate ligament injuries, and sports-related injuries including cartilage injuries and osteochondral defect resurfacing. As an experienced surgeon, Mr Jamil regularly performs a number of procedures including arthroscopic surgery, cruciate ligament resconstruction, and total and partial knee and hip replacements including bespoke (custom made) knee replacement and robotic surgery. He is committed to his patients and offers an excellent standard of care, with a strong interest in accelerating and improving recovery after knee and hip replacement surgery. Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Jamil is actively involved in teaching and research, with numerous peer-reviewed articles to his name and collaborations with the universities of both Salford and Manchester. He is an Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Instructor and a University Problem-based Learning (PBL) instructor. In addition, Mr Jamil is often invited to present his research work at national and international meetings. Throughout his training and career, Mr Jamil has received numerous awards and scholarships, including the BOA Adult Knees - Travelling Fellowship Award in 2014, the Bluespier Prize (awarded by NWOA) in 2009 and The Dora Ratcliffe Award in 2001. He is a member of several organisations, including the British Association for Surgery of the Knee, the British Orthopaedic Association, and the European Society of Sports Traumatology Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy.
