About Mr Tamer Sweed
Mr Tamer Sweed is a distinguished consultant orthopaedic surgeon based in Coventry who specialises exclusively in knee surgery and lower limb sports injuries. Included in his areas of expertise are knee arthroplasty, knee arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, knee osteotomy, partial knee replacement, and cartilage repair and regeneration. With over 20 years’ experience, Mr Sweed consults privately at The Meriden Hospital. His NHS base is at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust. Mr Sweed qualified from Alexandria University in Egypt in 2001. He also completed his orthopaedic training there before relocating to the UK in 2013. Mr Sweed was awarded his fellowship to the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2016 and has since completed advanced fellowship training in knee surgery at renowned institutions, including: BOA knee osteotomy fellowship at North Cumbria NHS Trust. Sports knee fellowship at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton. Lower limb arthroplasty fellowship at Royal Berkshire Hospital. Knee fellowship at University Hospital Birmingham. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Mr Sweed is passionate about medical education and co-founded the Birmingham Knee School (BKS). BKS hosts an annual course for trainees and fellows to support the exchange of knowledge and techniques while promoting innovation and excellence in knee surgery.
