Mr Siddek Isreb is a consultant upper GI and bariatric surgeon in Stockton and Darlington with expertise in keyhole removal of the gallbladder, keyhole and open repair of groin and other abdominal wall hernias, gastroscopy and endoscopy, keyhole Nissen fundoplication and surgery for gastro-oesophageal reflux, as well as bariatric surgery and lump removal and treatment of ingrown nails and general surgery of childhood. He privately practises at Woodlands Hospital - part of Circle Health Group, Consultants Choice Clinic and Tyneside Surgical Services, while his NHS base is North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust. Mr Isreb, who provides both elective and diagnostic upper gastrointestinal surgery, using minimally invasive techniques where appropriate to support safe recovery and effective outcomes. Mr Isreb completed his primary medical degree at the University of Damascus and has since undertaken extensive postgraduate training, including an MD, MSc, PhD and a postgraduate diploma in medical education. His academic background underpins a structured, evidence-based approach to clinical decision-making and patient care. Alongside his clinical practice, he is actively involved in medical education and surgical training. He is a basic surgical skills trainer with the Royal College of Surgeons of London, a member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and an honorary clinical senior lecturer at Newcastle University. He supervises undergraduate and postgraduate medical students and contributes to assessment processes within Newcastle University Medical School. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Mr Isreb has published widely in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, including a leading article in the British Journal of Surgery, and has received recognition for innovation, including first place at the Bright Idea Awards in 2011. His practice combines technical expertise, academic rigour and a strong commitment to teaching and high standards of patient care.
