About Dr Sibu Varghese
Dr Sibu Varghese is a consultant gastroenterologist practising at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital. He specialises in the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal conditions, and his expertise includes gastroscopy, colonoscopy, pancreatic disorders, endoscopic ultrasounds, irritable bowel syndrome, and bowel symptoms. Dr Varghese qualified from the Christian Medical College and Hospitals in Vellore, India, in 2000. He undertook training in gastroenterology, hepatology, and general medicine in the East of England, and became a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 2006. He was awarded a PhD from the University of Cambridge in 2014, and has since pursued further accreditations from the Royal College of Physicians in gastroenterology. He is an accredited colonoscopist for bowel screening, and he is the director for the Cambridge Bowel Screening Programme as well as the clinical lead for the Endoscopy Training Academy at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Dr Varghese was appointed a consultant in 2015. Dr Varghese is committed to the improvement and maintenance of good care through high standards and professional development, and has set up and runs a pancreatic clinic at the Cambridge Endoscopy Academy in addition to serving as an endoscopy professional clinical advisor for the Screening Quality Assurance Services for NHS England. His research interests focus on the early detection of gastrointestinal cancers, pancreatic disorders and developments in endoscopic imaging.
