About Mr Shane Duffy
Mr Shane Duffy is a highly regarded consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist in London who has over 20 years of experience. Mr Duffy's areas of expertise include vaginal birth, cesarean birth, antenatal and postnatal care, ultrasound, gynaecology care and female pelvic floor reconstruction surgery. Mr Duffy graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MB BS) from Guys and St Thomas' Hospitals, University of London. He went on to undertake specialist training in London. Mr Duffy gained a Diploma in advanced obstetric ultrasound, a Diploma in tropical medicine, a Diploma in medical education and a masters in health and hygiene. In 2013 Mr Duffy became a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. In 2007 Mr Duffy was appointed as a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist and he is currently a consultant at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London. Mr Duffy is also the clinical director of the North West London Placenta Accreta Service (complex caesarean sections) and he is the chairman of the North West London Gynaecology Clinical Reference Group. Mr Duffy works privately at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, the Lister Hospital and the Portland Hospital in London. Mr Duffy's personable and calm approach has gained him a reputation as a first-class practitioner in low and high-risk birth situations. He is renowned for his hands-on approach, down-to-earth manner, and meticulous attention to detail, making him a popular choice with both gynaecology patients, pregnant mothers and a loyal following of repeat patients. Mr Duffy is also heavily involved in global health charity work through MedNav - a life-saving initiative with the goal of making childbirth safe for women around the world and treating complex pelvic floor problems (incontinence, fistula and perineal tears). MedNav works in resource poor environments, providing surgical operations, training courses and introducing innovations to help healthcare workers to deal with emergency situations. Mr Duffy is a visiting volunteer fistula surgeon at Kitovu Hospital in Uganda where Mr Duffy and his team have provided surgery for patients with an obstetric fistula (a hole in the birth canal caused by problems during childbirth) for the last 21 years.
