About Miss Ourania Fydanaki

Miss Ourania Fydanaki is a highly regarded ophthalmology consultant and oculoplastic surgeon based in Ipswich, practising at Nuffield Health Ipswich Hospital. She specialises in oculoplastic, lacrimal and orbital surgery, with particular expertise in managing droopy eyelids (ptosis), watery eyes, eyelid cancer, and dry eyes. She also performs aesthetic procedures such as blepharoplasty. Known for her precision and patient-focused care, Miss Fydanaki delivers comprehensive treatment plans tailored to both functional and cosmetic concerns. She graduated as a military doctor from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2010, having also completed military training at the Military School of Combat Support Officers. Following this, she served in the Hellenic Air Force from 2010 until 2020, where she advanced to the rank of captain surgeon. She undertook her ophthalmology training across Greece and Wales, gaining specialist registration in 2020. She went on to complete advanced sub-specialty training in oculoplastics, lacrimal and orbital surgery at University Hospital Southampton and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. In 2023, she was appointed consultant oculoplastic surgeon at Ipswich Hospital, where she currently leads the oculoplastics service. Alongside her clinical work, Miss Fydanaki holds a PhD from the University of Thessaly and has been actively involved in academic research, including award-winning projects and commercial trials. She is a member of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society and was the representative for Greece on the European Society of Ophthalmology’s Young Ophthalmologists Committee (2023 - 2025). She also plays a leading role in education and service development, contributing to postgraduate training and organising the Ipswich Ocular Trauma Course.
