Mr Nikhil Nanavati is a highly regarded and accomplished consultant orthopaedic surgeon based in South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, specialising in foot and ankle surgery. He practises privately at Thornbury and Claremont Hospitals (Sheffield), Park Hill Hospital (Doncaster), Lincoln Private Hospital and St Hugh’s Hospital (Grimsby). His clinical expertise includes bunion correction and forefoot surgery, sports-related foot and ankle injuries, Achilles tendon disorders, ankle instability, foot and ankle arthritis, fractures, and complex and revision foot and ankle surgery. He is well known for delivering high-volume, evidence-based care, with a particular focus on minimally invasive (keyhole) techniques and complex deformity correction. Mr Nanavati studied medicine at Brighton and Sussex Medical School and completed his specialist orthopaedic training on the Sheffield, South Yorkshire rotation, ranking 11th nationally at entry to higher orthopaedic training and 4th in Yorkshire at basic surgical training entry. He undertook advanced subspecialty training through a 16-month foot and ankle fellowship in Leicester, and has worked alongside three past presidents of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS). He further broadened his experience during a trauma fellowship in Malawi, managing complex injuries in challenging environments, and completed a Master’s degree in Orthopaedic Engineering at Cardiff University, applying biomechanical principles to optimise surgical decision-making and outcomes. In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Nanavati has a strong academic and leadership profile. He has published in peer-reviewed journals including the British Medical Journal, contributed a chapter to the internationally recognised textbook Essentials of Foot and Ankle Surgery, and is an Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Instructor. He has served as Deputy Divisional Director for Surgery at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust and is a recipient of an NHS Clinical Excellence Award for services to foot and ankle surgery. He is also highly experienced in medico-legal reporting, with a reputation for clarity, efficiency and responsiveness.
