About Dr Mike Bellamy
Dr Mike (Michael) Bellamy is a distinguished consultant cardiologist based in London. His areas of expertise include interventional cardiology, echocardiography (including stress echo, transoesophageal echo, and 3D valve assessments), mitral valve disease, and acute coronary syndrome. He is also highly proficient in angioplasty, stenting, and percutaneous valve interventions. Dr Bellamy consults privately at Cleveland Clinic London Hospital and Cleveland Clinic Portland Place Outpatient Centre. With over 20 years’ experience in cardiovascular medicine, he also practises for Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and is the joint lead of the percutaneous mitral valve programme as well as the valve clinics and specialist echocardiography clinic. Dr Bellamy qualified from the University of London in 1991, obtaining an MBBS with honours and an intercalated first-class BSc in Biochemistry. He went on to obtain an MD in cardiovascular research as well, and became a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1994, receiving fellowship status in 2012. Notably, Dr Bellamy undertook higher specialist training in cardiology and internal medicine in London, before completing two prestigious international fellowships: a valvular heart disease fellowship at the renowned Mayo Clinic in the USA and an interventional cardiology fellowship at St Vincent’s University Hospital in Australia. Dr Bellamy is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching at Imperial College London. Additionally, he participates in the on-call rota for the West London Heart Attack Centre at Hammersmith Hospital, where he performs emergency PCI (stenting) procedures alongside elective coronary artery disease interventions.
