About Dr Mark Cohen

Dr Mark Cohen is a consultant endocrinologist practising at the Chase Lodge Hospital. He specialises in obesity, thyroid and parathyroid diseases, pituitary gland disorders, and diabetes. Dr Cohen qualified from the University of Birmingham in 1994 with first-class honours in Physiology. Upon becoming a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1998, he became a Medical Research Council Clinical Research Fellow at Hammersmith Hospital. In 2005, he was awarded a PhD for research on the role of the gut hormones PYY, oxyntomodulin and ghrelin in the regulation of food intake. Dr Cohen was appointed as a consultant for endocrinology and diabetes at the Barnet Hospital in 2006. He collaborates closely with surgical teams to manage thyroid and parathyroid conditions, and with dietitians and diabetic nurses in the clinical treatment of obesity.
