About Mr Luke Anderson
Mr Luke Anderson is a highly regarded cataract and glaucoma surgeon based in Swansea and Bridgend, and a director at Sana Private Health. He specialises in the diagnosis and management of cataract and glaucoma, with particular expertise in cataract surgery, premium intraocular lens implants, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) and combined cataract and glaucoma procedures. He is recognised for delivering patient-centred care supported by modern surgical techniques and technology-assisted ophthalmology to optimise visual outcomes. Mr Anderson qualified in medicine from the University of Leicester in 2002 and completed his ophthalmic higher surgical training in Hampshire and Wales, following early clinical experience in Australia. He undertook specialist cataract and glaucoma training at the University Hospital of Wales, after which he became Glaucoma Lead for Cwm Taf University Health Board. He later joined Swansea Bay University Health Board, where he served as Clinical Lead for Ophthalmology, gaining extensive experience in both complex cataract and glaucoma care. He has held several senior roles within the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, including contributions to national training and curriculum development, and was a founding member of the College’s Surgical Simulation Group. Mr Anderson also chairs the National Task and Finish Group reviewing the Glaucoma Pathway in Wales and the Ophthalmic IT Committee for Swansea Bay. His research interests include the digital assessment of vision, data-driven approaches to eye disease and glaucoma care pathways, with work published in peer-reviewed journals and supported by patented innovations in digital ophthalmology.
