About Dr Leena Sinha

Dr Leena Sinha is a consultant gastroenterologist practising in Greater London and Brentwood. With over 20 years of experience, she specialises in inflammatory bowel diseases, acid reflux, coeliac disease, jaundice, changes in bowel habits, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and bloating. Dr Sinha qualified from the University of Wales in 1993 and underwent extensive training in both gastroenterology and general internal medicine within the North West Deanery, gaining experience and honing her skills in the management of common and complex gastrointestinal conditions. In 2007 she earned a specialist teaching qualification from the University of Wales, the PCME, and pursued a further postgraduate diploma in Nutrition at the University of Surrey, which was awarded in 2013. In 2011, she completed a Master of Laws degree in Medicine Law & Ethics at the University of Wales. She became a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) in 2017. Her wealth of qualifications across different facets of medical practice and conduct showcase her dedication to a high standard of care that prioritises patient safety. Dr Sinha has trained in endoscopic techniques for use in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, and capsule endoscopy, and has performed tens of thousands of these procedures. She was Chair of the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) Committee’s Small Bowel & Nutrition Section, is a committee member of the BSG’s Gastroduodenal Society, and contributes to the RCP Committee in Ethical Medicine. Dr Sinha spearheaded the expansion of the capsule endoscopy service at the Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. She has been in leadership roles for several services within Gastroenterology, and has been the principal investigator in several clinical trials that concern inflammatory bowel diseases, Barrett’s oesophagus, and capsule endoscopy. Dr Sinha is the founder of Gastro Care, a practice that focuses on supporting patients with acute, chronic, and complex gastroenterological conditions.
