About Dr Lauren Penn

Dr Lauren Penn is a consultant dermatologist in North London with expertise in skin cancer screening, mole checks, acne, and rosacea, as well as eczema, pigmentation concerns, removal of benign skin lesions, and selected non-surgical aesthetic treatments. She practises at Skin Care Network and serves as skin cancer lead at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust where she works as a dermatologist and dermatopathologist. With over 17 years of clinical experience across the United States and the United Kingdom, Dr Penn provides comprehensive assessment and personalised treatment plans for a wide range of skin conditions. Dr Penn earned her medical degree at the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami, and undertook her specialist dermatology residency training and a dermatopathology fellowship at New York University in New York City, one of the leading dermatology training programmes in the United States. In addition, she completed a four-year melanoma research fellowship focusing on the early detection and research of melanoma, as well as a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation at New York University. Her dual training in dermatology and dermatopathology allows her to diagnose skin disease with particular accuracy, combining clinical expertise with specialist knowledge of the microscopic features of skin conditions. This is especially valuable in the assessment of moles and the early detection of skin cancer. Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Penn has an active academic profile. She has presented research findings at regional, national and international scientific meetings and has authored more than 25 peer-reviewed publications in dermatology and dermatopathology. Her research interests include melanoma detection, skin cancer diagnosis and advances in dermatological investigation. She is known for her thorough and approachable manner and was recognised with the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Compassion Award for excellence in patient care, reflecting her commitment to delivering attentive and patient-centred dermatological care.
