About Mr Keith Louden
Mr Keith Louden is a senior consultant gynaecologist with over 30 years of extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of gynaecological conditions including endometriosis, menopause and menstrual disorders, alongside pelvic pain, fibroids, hysterectomy, hysteroscopy and heavy periods. He practises privately at Nuffield Health Wessex Hospital and holds a senior NHS post at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, part of Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He has led the development of advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery within his trust since his appointment in 1995. Mr Louden is the lead endometriosis surgeon for Basingstoke and Winchester and holds national accreditation from the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy for the surgical management of deep infiltrating endometriosis. He runs a dedicated endometriosis and pelvic pain clinic, providing expert care using laparoscopic excision techniques, often performed in collaboration with an experienced surgical team. In addition, he offers outpatient hysteroscopy for patients with heavy or irregular periods, with the option of general anaesthesia where preferred. He also has long-standing expertise in the management of menopausal symptoms and hormone replacement therapy, and regularly delivers educational talks for colleagues, GPs and patients. His interest in hormones also extends to the perimenopause, PMS and PMDD. Mr Louden graduated from the University of Nottingham in 1983 and later completed a postgraduate Doctor of Medicine degree in reproductive physiology. He undertook further subspecialty training in laparoscopic surgery through a year-long fellowship in Melbourne, Australia. He became a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1990 and was awarded Fellowship in 2001. He has been an active contributor to national gynaecological bodies, serving for over ten years on the council of the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy, where he led the development of clinical guidelines and hosted the society’s national meeting in Winchester. He is also a former editorial board member for The Obstetrician and Gynaecologist journal and is a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and a member of the National Endometriosis Society.
