About Mr Jibin Francis
Mr Jibin Francis is a consultant neurosurgeon based in Cambridge, further specialised in complex spinal surgery. His areas of expertise include back pain, sciatica, neck and arm pain, spinal stenosis, as well as spinal tumours, leg pain, syringomyelia, and spontaneous intracranial hypotension. He is highly proficient in minimally invasive spinal surgery, applying this to lumbar stenosis and discectomy, and to spinal tumours and spinal CSF leak surgery where possible. Mr Francis consults privately at Nuffield Health Cambridge Hospital and Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital. Mr Francis also practises at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where he introduced full endoscopic spinal surgery in 2023 and is also the sub-specialty lead for spinal surgery. Mr Francis holds an MBBCh from the University of the Witwatersrand, and is a fellow of both the Royal College of Surgeons and the Colleges of Medicine, South Africa. He undertook specialist fellowships in spinal surgery at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, and a combined orthopaedic and neurosurgical spinal fellowship in Cambridge. Furthermore, Mr Francis is actively involved in neurosurgical education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. At Addenbrooke’s Hospital, he serves as the specialty lead for neurosurgical teaching, and he is also a faculty member on various neurosurgical courses. Additionally, Mr Francis serves as the regional lead for the East of England Spinal Network.
