About Mr James Bidwell
Mr James Bidwell is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in trauma and orthopaedic surgery, practicing in Aberdeen since 2001. He has been a part of Aberdeen Orthopaedics for over 15 years, where he also offers private consultations at The Albyn Hospital in Aberdeen. Mr Bidwell focuses on sports injuries and lower limb reconstructive surgery, particularly knee surgery, with a keen interest in custom-fit total knee arthroplasty. He is also passionate about joint preserving approaches to joint pain, including osteotomy and chondral surgery, injection therapy, bracing, and innovative biological treatments. His areas of expertise encompass hip and knee joint replacement, arthroscopic surgery, ligament reconstructions, as well as knee osteotomy surgery. Mr Bidwell graduated in 1989 from the University of London and completed his orthopaedic surgery training in London and Glasgow. He then went on to pursue a spreecialist fellowship in Edinburgh and a short travelling fellowship in North America. In addition to his clinical work, Mr Bidwell is actively engaged in research, focusing on knee reconstruction, enhanced recovery methods, and custom-fit knee arthroplasty. He frequently gives presentations on general orthopaedics and lectures specifically on knee injuries. Mr Bidwell is a member of several professional organisations, including the British Orthopaedic Association, the British Association for Surgery of the Knee, and the International Society for Arthroscopy and Knee Surgery.
