About Dr Isobel Horn
Dr Isobel Horn is a leading clinical psychologist offering online therapy. She helps people with symptoms of anxiety, panic, and OCD. Her subspecialty is the treatment of social anxiety and health anxiety. Dr Horn graduated from Oxford University in 1991. She completed training in clinical psychology at The Maudsley Hospital and King's College, London in 1999. She says, "I enjoy helping people make sense of unwanted symptoms, painful experiences and problem situations. At assessment we get to grips with what’s wrong. We look at how the problem developed, and we figure out what's keeping it going. You define what you want to change, and I support you to do what you can’t do now – to change unhelpful beliefs and rules you have for yourself and others, to drop unhelpful behaviours, and to learn new ways to feel better”. Dr Isobel Horn says, “Cognitive therapy (CBT) is effective if delivered well. It’s an action-based therapy which asks for effort and dedicated time from a client to do homework between sessions. As they say in some circles, ‘it works if you work it’. “While new insights and skills are crucial, a vital ingredient in the process of change is the collaborative relationship that develops as we work on your goals.” Clients describe Dr Isobel Horn’s manner as compassionate, warm and understanding. In 2014 Isobel received a nomination for 'professional who has made a difference’ at the Lancashire Care NHS Staff Excellence Awards.
