About Professor Giles Critchley
Professor Giles Critchley is a consultant neurosurgeon and spinal surgeon at Nuffield Haywards Heath Hospital. He specialises in adult neurosurgery and spinal surgery treating people with cervical disc problems, lumbar disc problems, lumbar spinal stenosis and fusion, as well as brain tumours, neurooncology problems, neurovascular surgery, hydrocephalus and advising on the management of incidental findings on MRI scans. Professor Critchley qualified from the University of Cambridge and St Thomas’Hospital, London. He underwent neurosurgical training in Manchester and at Atkinson Morley’s Hospital. Wimbledon. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. He has previously been the clinical lead for Neurosurgery, Spinal Surgery, and Neuro-Oncology Multidisciplinary Meetings at the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, where he has been working as a consultant since 2001. Professor Critchley is an examiner for the FRCS exam in Neurosurgery, and the Joint Surgical Colleges' Fellowship International Neurosurgery Examination. He is an Honorary Clinical Professor in neurosurgery at Brighton and Sussex Medical School and was professor of neurosurgery at the University of Otago in New Zealand 2023-2024.
