About Mr Geza Mezei

Mr Geza Mezei is a consultant in neurosurgery and stereotactic radiosurgery in Sheffield, with a specialist focus on neuro-oncology. He practices at the Thornbury Radiosurgery Centre, part of Amethyst UK, where he treats patients with Gamma Knife radiosurgery. Mr Mezei began his medical education at the University of Szeged, Hungary, and earned his MD from the University of Debrecen in 2001. He gained further expertise through scholarships and fellowships in Germany and Italy. After completing his PhD fellowship and initial training, he started his neurosurgical career at the University of Debrecen. In 2014, Mr Mezei moved to the UK, where he completed a radiosurgery fellowship at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital under consultant neurosurgeon Mr Matthias Radatz. Following this, he continued to work there, gaining experience in operative neurosurgery, leadership, and management, and was appointed as a consultant in 2018. Mr Mezei earned his PhD in 2015, specialising in neurosciences with a focus on neuro-oncology. His research, particularly in intraoperative tissue diagnosis and tumour genetics, has led to numerous publications, and conference presentations. In radiosurgery, his interests include treating large acoustic neuromas, metastatic brain tumours, and vascular malformations.
