She was a significant contributor to the establishment of primary coronary angioplasty as first-line treatment for heart attack, which has led to the institution of emergency networks, Heart Attack Centres, across the UK, and she has also been a cardiologist for the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London, providing her unique insight into conditions where the heart and the brain interface. In addition to her clinical research, she has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles, invited articles, and printed abstracts. She has also authored many chapters and books, both individually and collaboratively. She has additional expertise in ischaemic heart diseases (angina and heart attacks), percutaneous coronary interventions (coronary angioplasty, stents, and bypass grafting), valvular heart disease, heart rhythm disorders, and cardiovascular risk factor assessment. Cardiology has been of interest to her since the beginning of her medical career and she is proud to have been instrumental in several initiatives and treatment innovations that better the lives of cardiac patients.
