About Mr Andrew Tasker

Mr Andrew Tasker serves as a consultant in trauma and orthopaedic surgery at Southmead Hospital in Bristol, as well as at Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital and The Ridgeway Hospital in Swindon. His clinical focus is on disorders of the upper limb, with particular expertise in the shoulder and elbow. He performs a broad range of procedures, including arthroscopic (keyhole), open, and joint replacement surgeries. After graduating from King’s College London School of Medicine in 2000, Mr Tasker undertook his foundational surgical training in Nottingham and London, with time at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. He completed his specialist training in orthopaedics within the Severn Deanery, followed by advanced fellowships in shoulder and elbow surgery in Australia and in trauma at leading centres in Bristol and Oxford. Mr Tasker has held several educational leadership roles, including medical education lead for his department and postgraduate tutor for Severn deanery’s orthopaedic registrar programme. He now serves as training programme director for trauma and orthopaedics in the region. He maintains a strong commitment to evidence-based medicine and has acted as a principal investigator for national multi-centre orthopaedic studies. His clinical philosophy centres on collaborative, patient-led care. He works closely with multidisciplinary teams, including physiotherapists, radiologists, and anaesthetists, to ensure that surgery is only considered when non-operative measures have been fully explored. It is important to note that Mr Tasker does not perform routine hand surgery.
