About Dr Alastair Jones

Alastair is a Sports Medicine and Musculoskeletal Physician and a Consultant in Emergency Medicine. Alastair qualified as a doctor in 2003 from the University of Sheffield and has been a consultant now for thirteen years. He runs several Sports Medicine and Musculoskeletal Clinics across Leeds and Bradford, within the NHS and private sectors. He founded and leads the Bradford Royal Infirmaries, Acute Musculoskeletal Clinic. A one-of-a-kind clinic looking at joining up the care of patients presenting to hospital with soft tissue MSK injuries. His areas of clinical expertise and interest include treating bone, muscle, nerve, tendon, ligament and joint problems along with other sports related injuries such as concussion. He is a Key Opinion Leader for several international companies related to concussion. He is also proficient in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound. Alastair is a Director and Educator for “Simply MSK”, a Sports Medicine and Musculoskeletal Education Company delivering education to Doctors, Physiotherapists and Sports Therapists across the country. He is also a director and holds the title of Director of Medicine for ecovery, a digital healthcare triage company. Alastair is heavily involved in the field of Sports and Exercise Medicine. He has held the post of Head of Medical Services for Leeds Rugby where he oversaw the medical departments of both Leeds Rhinos Rugby League and Yorkshire Carnegie Rugby Union. He currently is the Head of Medical Services for Leeds Rhinos Netball. He also currently provides medical services for the Rugby Football Union, where he is a course instructor for the Rugby Football Unions Pre-Hospital Immediate Care in Sport course. Alastair has previously worked for Tonga as their doctor during the 2013 Rugby League World Cup and has held the role of Immediate Care doctor at the 2015 Rugby Union World Cup and 2016 Rugby Union Junior World Cup.
