About Mr Alastair Davidson
Mr Alastair Davidson is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in performing knee replacement (including revisions), robotic surgery, ACL reconstructions, knee arthroscopy, osteotomy, and hip replacements. He is experienced with utilising a variety of joint replacement systems like the Conformis custom knee replacement and the Exeter hip replacement. Mr Davidson qualified in 1994 from the University of Glasgow, and most of his postgraduate training was conducted at London Teaching Hospitals, further enriched by a year spent in Sydney, Australia for a specialist fellowship. His final year of specialist training was spent at the Hip and Knee Unit of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, focusing on joint reconstruction. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1998, and in 2005, he was appointed as consultant. He was previously a travelling fellow of the British Orthopaedic Association. Mr Davidson participates in medical education and research when not in the clinic. A Clinical Champion of the BOA, he runs the knee fellowship training programme at the Frimley Health NHS Trust and regularly teaches medical students. His research has been published and presented nationally and internationally, and he has taken part in the Medical Research Council’s ACTIVE trial regarding cartilage resurfacing.
