His clinical expertise includes bariatric (weight loss) surgery, acid reflux and hiatal hernia repair, gallbladder surgery with laparoscopic CBD exploration, and open and laparoscopic hernia repair for all types of hernias. As Director of Corporate Engagement for TUGSS, ECCN Lead for the ASGBI, and chair of the Complex Bariatric MDT at Luton & Dunstable Hospital, he actively contributes to service development, surgical education, and quality improvement initiatives. He is committed to mentoring trainees and has played a key role in organising educational courses such as the TUGSS FRCS Revision Course. With a background in academia, including a PhD in Surgery & Cancer from Imperial College London, Mr Askari's work has been published in over 160 peer-reviewed articles, and more than 200 national and international presentations. His interests extend to exploring innovative healthcare approaches, such as using big data, machine learning, and social media to enhance patient care and improve surgical training. Mr Askari is a collaborative team player known for my approachable, caring, and supportive nature.
